Venezuela Condemns U.S. Forced Family Separations

(MENAFN) Venezuela's government strongly condemned on Monday the forced separation of several migrant families by U.S. authorities, calling the actions a gross violation of human rights.

At a press briefing, Jorge Rodriguez, the head of the Unified Command of the Bolivarian Revolution, expressed his outrage over what he described as the "kidnapping" of 18 Venezuelan children. He demanded their immediate reunification with their families back in Venezuela.

Rodriguez revealed that while many of the children are currently being held in so-called safe facilities, their parents face criminal charges and have reportedly been subjected to physical abuse. He pointed out that some of the detained adults are being held at the Terrorism Confinement Center in El Salvador, despite not having committed any crimes.

He also highlighted the distressing case of a one-year-old girl who is being held in the United States while her mother was deported back to Venezuela.

Calling the U.S. government's actions "an example of barbarism rarely seen in history," Rodriguez condemned the practice as "a crime against humanity." He accused the United States of breaching the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the UN Charter.

"We will not rest ... we will go everywhere we have to go," Rodriguez vowed, pledging to utilize all international and multilateral avenues to ensure the return of the children.
